Miam Miam @ Bugis: Follow up

My original post can be found here: Original Post

I went back to Miam Miam 2 more times, bringing a friend and the other trip alone. Ordered Squid Ink rice and Miam Miam Spaghetti on the trip with friend and the Souffle Au Nauge when I am alone. I must say that I am impress! Both trip have proven me that the food are less salty and I simply love it (But I am not sure if that would please the younger crowd who are used to saltiness). And for every main course comes with free Brocolli Soup, which I think is nice, not very creamy like some other soup from restaurants and cafe, I don't feel sick after drinking this soup and it helps waking up my appetite.

I must say, Restaurant that listen to their customer should be the one people would trust and go back again.

No photo this time, hahaha, I am not a person who remember to take photo for everything I eat :P

Miam Miam @Bugis

It is a rainy afternoon while feeling like eating something great to kill this rainy mood (although it is just a very light rain, not those stormy days), decided to go to Bugis Junction to eat at Miam Miam again.

This is not the first time here. Last 2 visit, I have tried the Soufflé Au Nuage and Riz Noir Black Rice respectively, but left in a wonder why it is so salty on both encounter. At the bottom of the rice, I can even feel the salt crystal (i hope! And not some char!).

The lady who bring me to my seat had a little chat with me after my order (she sounds like the restaurant manager) which I told her if the kitchen could just not add any salt to my dish this time (I order Riz Au Curry this round). She politely told me that they do not add salt to Riz Au Curry, but to the last 2 order I made there will be. She politely ask me to try this time and see if the taste suits. I ordered another Iced Matcha Latte to go along (I really like these Matcha latte and they did it very well!)

My food came just 15 minutes of wait (I think) and the view of it just make me ssssoooooo hungry! At the first taste of the curry (suppose to be Japanese Curry), I felt the salt level is too high base on my food intake standard. Other than that, the 2 piece of sausage is really salty too. Thank goodness the egg and the broccoli in the dish helps to kill that saltiness and also thank god for the Iced Matcha Latte!

On the whole, I think the food is tasty and nice, if something can be done on the saltiness. They could have just lower the amount of salt they use in the central kitchen and allow customers to add their own salt by providing it on the table. I guess it could be due to my taste buds and eating habit that I usually does not put salt in my cuisine (only light soya sauce at its minimum and maybe some oyster sauce only, at times. The last package of salt I buy is in 2012 and it is only half used!) and the reason of the uses salt could be a reason on the target market from my observation of the crowd and restaurant deco. And after all, looking at the menu, the highlights seems to be on the dessert more than the main course of spaghetti and rice dishes.

I will go back again, but maybe to try the dessert.

Bangkok Jam @ PS

It was a lazy Friday afternoon where there are lesser people on the streets and shopping mall due to National Day. My friend gave me a call and date me for a dinner, hence I found my way to the restaurant in Plaza Singapura.

Upon arrival, I found myself in a Thai restaurant, yet the deco is of pretty modern touch. It gives me a feeling that the food I am about to taste is of a modern touch to the traditional Thai food that I had known for 40 years of my life.

Service
We are greeted by a humble Maitre D', who show the way to our table for 2. But we waited for some time till someone shows up with the menu. We order 1 soup and 3 dishes and each of us asked for a ice water and warm water due to the coldness of the shopping mall, I think I will feel better with something warm, and hoping the Tom Yum Soup spiciness will heat me up. But the drinks came 10 minutes later, While there is only 3 other table with guest and more than 6 waiter/waitress in sight!

Food
We order 4 items.

The Tom Yum Soup (Clear) is quite okay I would say, except it is not sour neither spicy. But the worst of it, it came luke warm! It is the first item to arrive on our table and that's it, the waiter did not serve our white rice and both of us were left sitting there doesn't know what to do with the lack of utensils or staple. I fully understand that this bowl if for one person and there is a spoon provided with the soup, but then again, we ordered 4 dishes with steam white rice each, should they restaurant team consider this?

Next same the stir-fried asparagus in sambal chilli, while I find it sweet and not spicy at all, the taste is acceptable. At this point of time, the steam white rice still have not came.

Finally the griller platter came, and the waiter finally serve us the white rice after we reminded them again. Not joking but I counted, and the time elapse between the soup arrival and this grill platter is a freaking 20 minutes! Can you imagine the soup and asparagus? It is exceptionally cold in the mall that day and both dishes are already cold. Only till now than we started our meal as our rice and utensils arrived.

And about the platter... The beef is Well-Done and cold! The chicken is slightly warm. The squid and prawns is so so. And about the prawns... I am a guy and I understand that frozen prawns must be thawed before you start cooking them, else the meat is going to become powdery. And guess what, it is powdery.

And finally, arrived is our dessert, after the not so satisfied meal we had, hoping it will smoother our feelings. Never to know, it is another nightmare. If you had eaten Thai Mango Sticky rice, you will probably remember that the coconut cream is NOT on the mango, but on the sticky rice. maybe the chef want us to feel sweet? The rice, I really doubt it is glutinous rice. It taste like ordinary Thai fragrance rice and it is not fully cook, it is grainy and stiff in the bite.

Conclusion
It is a rather disaster experience in this restaurant, and to add more disappointment to it, it is a restaurant operated by Creativeeateries. My friend had wanted to go there as it is "highly recommended" by another friend of his, as he mentioned good food, great taste and great service! After this experience, I will not go back anymore.
